HK-325, 1905 Lewis & Clark Expo Souvenir in Silver, Choice Uncirculated

815.00

A bright, flashy Choice Uncirculated example of this scarce So Called Dollar, certified NGC MS-64. This HK is very difficult to locate in BU grades even here in Oregon. The vast majority seem to have been instantly placed into a pocket as a souvenir, as almost all Silver examples seen are circulated to some extent, or impaired. One minor area on the Reverse where grease was present on the die or planchet when struck (the darker “stained”area at 8:00 to 9:00). Oddly enough, some of this area displays a semi-prooflike look to it, apparently the result of the interference of the material during striking. Also catalogued as SH 14-1 in Jeff Shevlin’s text on West Coast Expositions, there valued at $750 in MS-63, $895 in MS-65. About a dozen at NGC in the grade, with seven better (all MS-65).
