1889 Liberty Nickel, Choice Almost Uncirculated, Nice Reverse Toning

An original coin with virtually no wear, technically an AU-58 for actual surface preservation, but not quite bright enough for the grading services to certify it as such. They tend to like such coins "shiny", unfortunately. Nice Reverse color, indicating some time spent in an old folder or similar. As an important note, this coin also shows a feature that explains one of the problems with finding decent coin in lower grades for many of the 1880's dates. The major detail on the Reverse is very shallow, and would wear down quickly, particularly "E Pluribus Unum". This is a characteristic of the Master Hub, or how the dies were prepared, and not a "weak strike", as most coins in the 1886-1889 period show this.
