An unusually toned Gem example in an old PCGS "Rattler" holder. Primarily yellow-green with pinkish red highlights on the Obverse, more a mix of green and pink/red on the Reverse. A sense of streakiness to the toning likely caused by the tendency of early Lincoln planchets to show "woodgrain" character. There is a spread of tiny flecky spotting on part of the Obverse, partially hidden in the color, but this does not distract greatly, nor did it bother PCGS or CAC. Oddly enough, not a lot of MS-65RB coins at PCGS for a common date - just 84 and 8 better as of December, 2018 (plus 69 NGC). 16 at CAC combined. A bit odder still as this was the first date that Brenner's "VDB" initials were added back on the coin, on Lincoln's shoulder. Normally this sort of change increases hoarding - likely in this case the red hot First World War economy meant coins were spent.
