Overton-103a. Difficult to believe that an early Bust Half could circulated down to the grade of Good without picking up dings and dents, however here it is. This is also an example of the so-called “Punctuated Date” Obverse, often confused for the infamous 1817/4 Overdate. I once purchased an original Uncirculated example of this Overton variety that just about made my heart stop when I thought that I had just won the equivalent of the Numismatic Lottery! Both varieties use the same Reverse die, instantly recognizable by the missing serifs on the two I’s. This particular variety is a later die state where the die dot that defines the Punctuated Date has worn down due to die wear, and is not visible - this is actually slightly scarcer, if not as flashy. Either way, a nice solid early Half.
