A surprisingly tough date in better circulated grades, especially if anywhere near original. Despite the approaching end of the Civil War, mintage at Philadelphia was still limited to just more than 500,000 coins, most mainly for export. This coin like many survivors was recovered out of Europe, and is problem free. Seven in the grade at PCGS with 41 better between AU-53 and AU-58, with a supposed 60 in Unc grades - somewhat doubtful as I am certain some of those represent resubmissions (likely some of the 12 AU-58’s are as well). Either way, just 100 coins better than an EF is “thin air”. I think that I can assume that CAC would not have a problem with this coin either … A couple of the images are of the coin prior to certification.

PCGS 6313.50/37435559.
