Bank Premium, First National Bank, Newberg, Oregon

85.00

Leather change purse, issued as a banking premium by the First National Bank of Newberg, Oregon (Yamhill County). National charter 7537, the bank failed in 1935 and any currency on the Bank is quite rare. Kelly shows 3 large & 6 small, although we can assume a few more notes likely exist.  As a result, any Oregon National collector wanting a collectible on this Bank will be searching long and hard - this provides an interesting alternative, as well as something to liven up a display of this type of material. Overall size 8-1/2" by 5-1/2", minor wear, with one or two notable scuffs and a couple of stains, nothing serious given the age. I would estimate this is from the Teens or Twenties.  The imprinted lettering is intact however does not appear to ever had gilding applied as was sometimes done. Very cool, if nothing else.
