Official Souvenir Medal from the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition in Saint Louis. Swoger 15. An original Gem Uncirculated example, certified NGC MS-65, with the original envelope of issue. The envelope is a bit worse for wear, but is actually far scarcer than the medal it contained! These were struck at the Philadelphia Mint as all precious metal-content pieces across the series were I believe, original mintage reported as being 6,002 pieces (the odd two likely for the Assay Commission). Attractive light grey surfaces with some reddish and bluish highlights, thankfully it managed to avoid being dipped along the way the last Century! A common enough piece, however not typically this nice.
