1858/7 LL Flying Eagle Cent, Strong Overdate, PCGS/CAC VF-20, Scarce
FS-301, Snow-1. Surprisingly scarce in the grade with only 10 certified at PCGS, only 6 coins at NGC. Many earlier PCGS certifications simply state “Strong” rather than identifying the FS #. This is the sole PCGS example which has both the Snow and FS # attributions on the label, and the sole coin in the grade with a sticker at CAC (Dec. 2025). Some of this may be put off to the difficulty of seeing the attributes of the variety in lower grades, which probably leads to fewer examples being submitted. You can certainly tell the variety in low grade due to the “broken wingtip”, although the grading services will sometimes demure and decline to attribute such a coin. Or, get it wrong, as in the case of the last specimen that I submitted … but that is another story. Nice even tannish-brown surfaces.
