An attractive original Brown Unc example of this popular Key Date. Nice bright surfaces, showing significant obvious original red surface, without the “woodgrain” planchet streakyness that is common for this and the 1908-S Cents. The San Francisco Mint acquired the planchets for the Small Cents they struck from local sources, which were not familiar with the proper alloying procedure, so “QC” was not all that great. The Cent after all was “small beer” and considered unimportant, being for public convenience in making change. Just a touch of darkness and signs of old spotiness on the Reverse center, signs of some years spent in a Whitman-style album or coin board.
