1906-O Barber Half Dollar, Very Fine+ PCGS/CAC VF-25, Nice Coin
Individual images of the coin taken prior to certification. Tougher in this grade range due to a typically poor strike, as noted in Lawrence's book on the series. This is better than most, being just a bit weak on Liberty's forelock. 37 at PCGS, 8 at NGC, versus 6 at CAC (Dec. 2025). A somewhat surprising percentage considering that this is not that common of a date to find certified. Zero at CACG; per their policy this is guaranteed to cross at the same grade if resubmitted. Undervalued in standard price guides as this is close to R-3/4 in Choice VF to EF grades, again due to strike deficiencies. I note that some current listings of this date on ebay (Dec. 2025) are at over $300 with NO CAC approval - admittedly, that is “too high” ebay pricing. But based upon that and the “bean” I think my price makes sense.
