SH 14-3 ABZ, HK-329, 1905 Lewis and Clark Exposition, Choice to Gem Unc, Scarce
SH 14-3 ABZ, HK-329, Antiqued Bronze Government Dollar, a souvenir from the 1905 Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition at Portland, OR. Another blown attribution by NGC as they Detailed this for "Environmental Damage", not recognizing the antiqued surface preparation. That's what happens when you switch graders like I change my socks and don't bother to train them ... In my professional opinion of certifying SCD's for ~30 years, Choice to Gem Uncirculated, and priced as such regardless of what the "children" have to say about it. A very scarce piece even in the Northwest area it originated out of, as most examples I see are Silver-plated. Lets put it this way: I do not remember seeing another example top purchase in the last 10 years at any coin show I’ve been to. This piece new to market having been held by a now retired dealer in his private "hoard" of well over 30 years until recently.
