SH 14-6 GP, HK-332A, 1905 Lewis and Clark Exposition, NGC MS-64, Very Scarce
SH 14-6 GP, Government Dollar souvenir from the 1905 Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition at Portland, OR. Choice Uncirculated NGC MS-64. Incorrectly attributed by NGC as "HK-331A", this is clearly the basic design listed in H-K as "332A" (i. e. 38mm Gilt Bronze with Reeded edge). VERY scarce with only shown as 11 total certified at NGC; if properly attributed this would be #12 and tied for the TOP POP. Shevlin has this as an R-6 but I think it scarcer, given that in 40 years of prowling the Northwest area it originated out of, I have not seen many. The other MS-64 example just sold on ebay at about $200, in a heartbeat; I would have bought it myself but dithered as I knew I had this one coming back from NGC. This piece new to market having been held by a now retired dealer in his private "hoard" of well over 30 years until recently.
