1880 Seated Liberty Half Dollar, Choice Extremely Fine, ICG EF-45, Original
An attractive original circulated example of this low Mintage date, with only 8,400 Business Strikes originally made. This was due to the heavy artificial demand for producing Morgan Dollars due to the originating legislation for that series. Almost perfect grey surfaces with a touch of underlying red tone. Currently in an ICG holder, this was recently certified under the new administration, which appears to be much more conservative in assigning grades. I compared this coin to a number of PCGS and NGC coins, including CAC examples, and it compares favorably. As such it is my belief that this would cross to PCGS at the same grade and CAC if submitted; I simply have not attempted so yet being distracted with other things. It is priced accordingly – you may choose to believe my opinion or not, it does not materially change the fact that this is a nice coin and I like it. For reference, the Greysheet CPG for a non-CAC XF-45 is $1000, so my number should not be out of line regardless. Please note that due to value this will require shipping with Signature Confirmation, hence the S&H shown. I commonly ship Express Mail at this value level, at my added expense.
